Retro Fabric Button Hair Pin Tutorial

What do I need?

Scrap of fabric 8cms x 6cms to cover 2 x 19mm buttons
2 x Bobby Pins 5.5cm long
2 x Small Sharp Scissors
Small scrap of Felt or Fabric to cover back
Hot Glue Gun

Let`s begin!

Step one
Cut out 2 rough circles from main fabric, approx. 3.7cms in diameter.

Place button dome on wrong side of your fabric. Wrap fabric up and over the button, hooking the fabric onto the little teeth inside the rim and making sure fabric is smooth and even.

Step twoPop the 'button back' over the shank with the ridge facing down and snap into place.

Step three
Slide the bobby pin into the shank with the button sitting on the short edge of the bobby pin.

Cut out a small circle of felt big enough to cover the back of the button and slide it down the bobby pin between the two prongs. Position it evenly....see photo.

Step four
Heat glue gun. Fold one side of the felt back while holding the bobby pin in place and dollop some glue onto the back of the button, making sure that the glue covers the bobby pin also. Press felt down gently as you let it dry.....wait a few seconds until cool before repeating process on the other side.

Step five
Slide them into you hair and stand back and admire. Go to the closet, pull out your Mary Jane shoes and bobby sox and head for the Diner!
